North Adams, MA, Retiree Scores Big In OTB Showdown. Thanks To All 109 Participants—Next Contest In February! A retired crane operator from North Adams, MA, soared higher than all 109 participants in the most recent edition of HGP’s lucrative OTB Handicapping Showdown. Gerald Delisle racked up the most pari-mutuel points in the popular “all entry fees returned as prizes” handicapping contest on Nov. 18, enabling him to cash in for 50 percent of the $10,900 prize pool. |

“This was fun,” said Delisle, a regular HGP customer who specializes in simulcast betting. “It was a little bit of handicapping combined with a lot of luck.” Players who bought into the $100 contest made ten mythical $200 win, place or show wagers on their choice of Thoroughbred races from Aqueduct, Calder and Churchill. The contest came down to the last race of the afternoon to determine final placings. Edward Hatch, Larry Hopkins, Stan Gutkowski and Bernard Flynn rounded out the top five placings. All entry fees reverted to contest participants as cash prizes: 1st (50%), 2nd (25%), 3rd (12%), 4th (8%) and 5th (5%). The next HGP handicapping showdown is tentatively scheduled for February.
