	Down to the wire: Feb. 17 contest decided by last-race score Thanks to all 102 players who made the $10,200 OTB Handicapping Showdown a great success See you in June for our next contest! A retired tree surgeon from Springfield, MA, climbed to the top of the leader board in the final race of the contest to snare the top prize in HGP’s popular OTB Handicapping Showdown on February 17. Mike King bailed out in the final betting contest of the day in the “all entry fees returned as prize money” contest, besting 101 other players who ponied up $100 each in prize money to snare the $5,100 first-place prize. “Lady luck was with me today,” said King. “I’m here all the time playing the OTB anyway. It’s a well-run contest, plus you get a great meal for your money. This is my hobby, and for once, it paid off.” Rounding out the top five finish positions were Bill Kostanski, Doug Saunders, Gary Fleming and Gino Loncrini. A complete score list of participants follows. HGP’s next OTB Handicapping Showdown is tentatively scheduled for June. The exact date will be posted on our home page in early spring.
