Ethereal Force Guns Down Fast Cast Of Sprinters In Richest Race Of The Year At HGP - Heavily favored Ethereal Force broke on top and never looked back in the $20,000 New Hampshire Lottery Invitational Sprint on November 14 to win the richest race of the year at Hinsdale Greyhound Park & OTB. The 3-to-5 favorite sizzled the 5/16ths mile sprint in :31.16 and paid $3.20, 2.40 and 2.80. Bacopa Jabber was second at 4.20 and 7.80. Oneco Token was third at 2.80. “To me, he’s the fastest 5/16ths dog in the United States,” said winning trainer Jim Rae. “He’s world class. We’ve put out an open offer for a match race against any other sprinter in the country, and so far we’ve had no takers.” There was never an anxious moment for the striking white brindle, who broke alertly from the inside box and commanded rail position for a clean trip into and out of the escape turn. |

Runner-up Bacopa Jabber ran a gallant second at 18-to-1, weaving his way through traffic from the outermost eight box while cutting into the winner’s one-length margin of victory nearing the wire. Oneco Token was well backed as the 8-to-5 second choice but drifted out before launching a late-race bid. The NH Lottery Invitational kicks off a week of customer promotions at HGP: On Thursday, the track will host its popular OTB Handicapping Challenge. Saturday features the Great Turkey Giveaway, in which Thanksgiving birds will be randomly awarded to 100 patrons. |
